Pinto Valley Mine

Restart Operations

Strategic Construction Solutions is the general contractor for construction activities at the Pinto Valley mine restart project, a $195 million investment by global mining company BHP Billiton. Scheduled to resume operations at the end of 2012, Pinto Valley will produce copper and molybdenum concentrate, with an annual production capacity of up to 60,000 tons of copper in concentrate.

In order to prepare for this significant operation, Strategic Construction Solutions was hired to oversee and perform construction efforts that would restore the mine to its original operational structure. These activities included 600 tons of steel removal and replacement; 23,600 linear feet of pipe line removal and replacement; and the upgrade of a 14,500 square foot floatation circuit.

Additional services include: structural steel remediation; new steel installation; siding removal and replacement; concrete foundation repair and replacement; removal and replacement of all bad order process piping systems in mill and secondary crusher; plant-wide tank refurbishment; and mechanical work required on all bad order equipment necessary for restart.
